Philip's Magical Paradise: Museum of Magic and IllusionMagically, appearing out of the horizon is Philip's Magical Paradise as you travel east towards the town of Giroux on Provincial Road No. 311. A mysterious force insists that you must take the time to stop and tour Western Canada's only Museum of Magic and Illusion.
Even before you enter, the magic is subtlely around you. Look carefully as the key to this magic castle might be found in the sidewalk. Once inside, you will possibly be the closest in life to "Magic's most inner kept secrets!"
Magicians from around the world have donated magical books, posters, and apparatus to complement Philip Hornan's collection of magic. Each display and every item has a magical story that can be told about it, or about the magician who donated it. Historically interesting, like the fifty cent piece that once belonged to the great Harry Houdini, or the Water-Torture Cell that was used by Doug Henning, to the R.C.M.P. jail cell that Philip and his close friend, Dean Gunnarson, escaped.
However, magic requires "volunteers", so be prepared to look through peep holes, have your hair stand on end, witness the transformation in the Blue Room, and much more.
Your tour can long be remembered by visiting the gift and souvenir shop. As you leave you will be taking a wealth of magic knowledge, and the only secret that you are permitted to reveal is: "To tell your friends to visit Philip's Magical Paradise."
Formerly, this structure was the Giroux United Church, built in 1904. Its last service was held September 14, 1969. The Magic Museum is a result of our youngest son's dying request for the family to make a special room for all to see and enjoy in his memory of what he enjoyed doing most "Magic"; not a victim of cancer. With the help of friends and family we have all managed to make a wish come true. May it bring a feeling of Magic in your heart. Always believe in the Magic of your Dreams.
