Dean was born on January 27, 1964, making him an Aquarian Cat (according to Western and Chinese Astrology.) It can clearly be seen where his nine lives originate from.

Dean is presently living in Vancouver, BC (Canada) where he delights local audiences regularly.

Dean wears the following two quotes on the Saint Christopher Medal he wears around his neck:

Dean's personal handcuff collection totals in excess of several hundred handcuffs.

The most valuable and singular important piece in Deans escape collection are the thumbcuffs once possessed and used by Harry Houdini.

Among Houdini's greatest escapes, Dean admires most the creation of the Milk Can Escape. It is also one of Deans favourite escapes to perform in tribute to his idol.

Like Houdini before him, Dean's escapes were assisted by his brother, Todd. As Houdini confided in Hardeen, so did Dean confide and depend upon Todd to act as his safety advisor and confidante. [This photo to the left is of Dean and Todd Gunnarson.]

Of all the magic ever performed, Dean is most impressed and taken with David Copperfields flying segment. Dean feels it is the most believable and beautiful piece of magic he has ever witnessed. David is seen flying about the stage and then above the audience, at which point he lifts up and takes with him a member of the audience. At the end of the flying sequence, David is seen flying inside a sealed clear container.

An escape Dean would most like to perform is an escape in weightless space, perhaps aboard a space shuttle. All that is required is the challenge from NASA.

Dean's ideal evening consists of a quiet candle lit evening with a woman he adores, in front of the fire, eating popcorn and watching a movie video he hasn't seen before.
